David A Buffa

Utica, NY: David A. Buffa, 59, passed away, February 15, 2024, with his loving wife and family by his side, at Wynn Hospital, Utica.

Dave was born in Utica, NY, May 23, 1964, a son of Dawn (Van Deusen) Buffa Creaco and the late Joseph Buffa. He was raised and educated locally and a graduate of Frankfort High School. On October 6, 1990, David was joined in marriage to the former Katherine Carcone, with whom he shared over 33 years of a devoted and loving marriage, and over 41 years together, after meeting at the Masonic Home.

Always one to stay busy, David never stopped working. He spent many years at Oneida Asbestos Removal, and was more recently very proud to be a landlord, with several homes, throughout the area. He was the primary caretaker for his wife, Kathy, when she was diagnosed with MS and took care of her every need. They spent many years going to car auctions together, where he bought and sold many vehicles throughout the years. He was especially proud of his 1969 Corvette Stingray. Dave loved cooking and being with family, especially at their camp in Forestport. He bought four wheelers for himself and his nieces and nephews, so all could go to the sand dunes and ride together. Dave treasured his nieces and nephews, as if they were his own. Football was so important to David and he was always an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and collector. He was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish.

David was truly a man who would do anything for anyone, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. David is survived by his wife, Kathy (Carcone) Buffa; mother, Dawn Creaco; father-in-law, Thomas Carcone; sisters, Melissa Buffa and Dawn Buffa; in-laws, Camille Carcone-Jeffers, Frank and Donna Carcone, and Theresa Carcone; nieces and nephews, Richard Carcone, Joshua Carcone, Tiffany Carcone, Nicholas Carcone, and Stephanie Carcone and Dominic Cambry; a new great niece, Melaina Cambry; his favorite beloved fur babies, Gino, Junior, Jaxx, Baxter, Noella, and Rocky; an aunt and uncle, Kathleen and Richard Morse; and several cousins and many close friends. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Buffa; mother-in-law Carmella (Dare) Carcone; and brothers-in-law, Thomas Carcone and Richard Jeffers.

Relatives and friends are invited to David’s funeral service, Saturday, February 24th at 2 p.m., at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., Utica. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service.
