 Mrs. Betty Jane (Kelsey) O’Dell, 80, passed away with her loving family by her side on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Born in Sydney, NY, April 28, 1932, Betty was the daughter of the late Floyd and Pearl Bishop Kelsey. She was educated in Hobart, NY. Betty Jane was the widow of Julian J. O’Dell who passed away on September 6, 1994.
Mrs. O’Dell was employed for many years as a nurse’s aide at the Hunter House and many area hospitals and nursing homes. She was also a chamber maid at the Best Western Motel.
She is survived by her children, Theresa Pickard of Bridgeport, Gary and Sandy O’Dell, Curtis O’Dell and Janet Oliver, all of Utica, Beverly and John Doris of Kirkville, and Kevin and Sherry Clark of Utica; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers, Lesley, George, Monte, Edward and Carmen Kelsey; one sister, Ruth Clark.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at The Matt Funeral Home. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., in Utica.
