Richard F. Robbins Sr., 78, passed away peacefully, with loved ones by his side, April 12, 2024, at Mohawk Valley Health Care Center, Ilion.
Richard was born in Norwich, NY, October 8, 1945, a son of the late Robert and Arietta (Hendricks) Robbins. He was raised and educated in Utica and a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. After graduation, Richard enlisted in the United States Army and served proudly during the Vietnam War. Rich was joined in marriage to the former Darlene Richter, with whom he shared over 29 loving years, until his beloved Darlene passed away on July 20, 1997.
For several years, Richard was employed with Mele Manufacturing, in Whitesboro, NY, as a tool and dye maker. Rich was family oriented and loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. Richard was honored to serve his country and extremely passionate about giving back to the soldiers. He was devoted to both donating and raising donations to help support the wounded warriors.
Rich is survived by his sons, Richard Robbins, Kris Robbins, Joshua Robbins, and Robert Sr. and April Robbins; grandchildren, Noelle, Joshua II, Rebecca, Caroline, Ashley, and Robert Jr. Robbins; brother-in-law, Tony Rotundo; sister-in-law, Oi Robbins; niece, Robin Rotundo; and several cousins and close friends.
Richard will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Darlene, in Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica. His burial with full military honors will take place on Thursday, April 18 at 1p.m.
