Mr. Aldo F. Dadamo, 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was born in Greenwich, CT on September 7, 1936, a son of the late Juleo and Sylvia Dadamo. He was educated in CT schools until the age of 16 when and he and his mother relocated to Utica upon the passing of his father. Aldo was a graduate of T. R. Proctor High School. Following high school, Aldo enlisted in the US Air Force in 1955 as an aircraft mechanic. A machinist by trade, Aldo was employed for many years at Chicago Pneumatic and later General Electric, from where he retired. Following retirement, he was employed for several years at the City of Utica Parking Authority. Aldo was a happy go lucky guy, who treasured the horses, and enjoyed spending time at OTB. He was a loveable man, well known in the East Utica area, where he was affectionately referred to, as "Papa Smurf". He will be sadly missed especially by his adopted family, Paula, Melinda and Jessica with whom he shared his life with for the past 46 years. He is survived by Paula and John Rzepka, of Utica; his niece and nephew, Melinda (Rowland) and Shawn Walsh, of Deerfield along with their daughters, Lilianna and Lucianna Walsh and his niece, Jessica Rowland, of Utica. Also surviving are two nephews and a niece, of Greenwich, CT, as well as a lifetime of friends. Aldo was also predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Angie Dadamo, of Greenwich, CT. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of St. Joseph Nursing Home 4th Floor and St. Elizabeth Medical Center 4th Floor CTICU for the wonderful care Aldo received during his stay there. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service with Military Honors celebrating Aldo's life on Thursday at 6 p.m. Visitation will be from 4p.m. until the time of services at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., Utica.
