Mrs. Anastasia "Nancy" Mancuso, 93, passed away peacefully, at her home, with her loving family by her side, on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. She was born Anastasia Grace DeSimone on January 26, 1924. Nancy was the oldest of five children born to the late Vincenzo and Rose (Zegarelli) DeSimone. Her parents emigrated from Italy, Nancy joyfully helped her parents raise her brother and sisters. She was educated in local schools and a graduate of TR Proctor High School. On September 20, 1947, Nancy was joined in marriage to Robert "Bobby" Mancuso. Together they raised their family here in Utica and enjoyed a loving marriage of sixty-eight years. Bobby passed away on January 8, 2016. Mrs. Mancuso was employed as a typist at GAFB for six years and left that position to raise her five children. She later was employed as an accounting clerk at MVCC. She is survived by children, Paul and Sandra Mancuso, Finita Paternoster, Robert and Susan Mancuso, James "Juice" Mancuso, and Michael and Michelle Mancuso, all of Utica; ten grandchildren, Michelle and George Nixon, Christine and Paul Kisiel, Paul Jr. and Rachael Mancuso, Dominick and Nicole Paternoster, Frank Paternoster and his fiancé Renae Johnson, Robert Mancuso III, Jennifer and Jason Ramirez, Anastasia Mancuso and her fiancé Richard Ferrone, Isabella Mancuso, and Angelina Mancuso; eleven adored great grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Palma Piccolino, and Jenny and Frank Graziano; a sister-in-law, Pat DeSimone Milbower; and also many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Vincent DeSimone, her sister and brothers in law, Michelina and Alfred Jurkowski; and Marco Piccolino. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10 a.m. St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Private entombment will be in the family mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friend s may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., at Mohawk St., Utica.
