Mrs. Anastasia "Stasia" (Surace) Ruggiero, 84, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare. She was born in Utica on September 23, 1931, a daughter of Vincent and Antonette (Mazzei) Surace. She was educated in New Hartford Schools and a graduate of New Hartford High School. On June 20, 1953, Stasia was joined in marriage to John H. Ruggiero, Sr. They shared over sixty loving years together until John passed away earlier this year on April 21st. Stasia worked for many years at General Electric and later at Faster Form Corporation. She is survived by one son, Vincent Ruggiero; grandchildren, Rachel Ruggiero and Jonathon and Jessica Ruggiero; great grandchildren, Adriana Smalden and Vincent Ruggiero III; her two sisters, twin sister, Carmelita "Mela" Mino and Geraldine "Gerry" Campola; in-laws, Emily Surace, Anthony and Linda Ruggiero, and Rose Calogero; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved son, John Ruggiero Jr. and grandson, Vincent Ruggiero Jr., both of whom remained close to her heart; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Rock and Angela Surace, Joseph Surace, and Ronald and Celestine Surace. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Private entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum. There are no calling hours but the family will greet visitors at the conclusion of mass. The family would like to offer their thanks to the staff of Aspen Wing of the Presbyterian Home and the staff at 6th Floor of St. Luke's Hospital for their loving care of our beloved Stasia during her illness.
