Mrs. Angela “Ma” Petronella, 87, passed away, with loved ones by her side, on Friday, September 24, 2021, at MVHS, St. Luke’s Campus.
Angela was born in Utica, August 25, 1934, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Josephine (Andrello) Altieri. She was raised and educated in local schools and a graduate of T. R. Proctor High School. On June 14, 1958 Angela was joined in marriage to Jerry Petronella, with whom she shared over 58 years of loving marriage until his passing in 2016. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, who committed her life to raising her family, Angela was always present at any sporting event, dance, concert, and attended many events at the ARC Oneida-Lewis with her sons.
She is survived by her beloved children, two daughters, GerriAnn Caouette, and Ann Marie and Mark Tolman; two sons, David and Mark Petronella; grandchildren, Josette and Rick Bilodeau, Shibe and Krystal Caouette, Shawn and Nicki Caouette, Dana and Jim Finch, Kyle and Brittney Tolman, and Lea and Alex Cox; great-grandchildren, Gabriella Bilodeau, Kinsley and Teagan Caouette, Blake and Noah Caouette, Quincy and Raymond Finch, Jace, Kaden and Parker Tolman, and Ivy and Riley Cox; sister-in-law, Theresa Altieri; and three special nephews, Raymond, Andy, and Stephen Altieri. Angela was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jerry; son, Michael Petronella, who she always held close to her heart; son-in-law, Shibley Caouette; and brother, Raymond Altieri.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. There will be no visitation. Angela will be laid to rest with her husband, Jerry, at Calvary Cemetery.
Angela’s family would like to thank Dr. Abin Pachikara and the nurses on the 2nd and 5th floor of St. Luke’s Hospital, for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time.
