Mrs. Anita (Papa) Williams, 68, passed away with her loving family by her side, after a long illness on Friday, September 2, 2016, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare. She was born in Utica, November 1, 1947, one of four daughters to Joseph L. and Clara (DeMetri) Papa. She was educated in local schools and employed for many years as a nurse's aide. She is survived by her longtime companion, Willie Gary; the love of her life, her beloved poodle "Sammy"; her children, Karen Croman, Tammy (Croman) and Rob Maciol, Melanie (Croman) and John Moorehead, Lance and Ana Croman, Amy Croman, Kelly (Williams) and Juan Vasquez; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sisters, Angela and Carmen Nicotera, Sr., Joanne and Dave Warner, and Luigina and Anthony Zambino; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her adopted son, Peter Spatola. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 1 pm at St. Anthony of Padua Church. The family will greet visitors following the mass.
