Anita Jean Zumpano, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at The Heritage Health Care Center. Born in Utica, August 7, 1921, Anita was one of twelve children to Salvatore and Eusebbia (Lavato) Zumpano. She was educated at Mt. Carmel School and graduated from St. Francis DeSales in 1939. Anita later attended Ryder Business College in New Jersey, receiving a degree in Secretarial Science. She did administrative work at Griffiss Air Force Base and later at Gold Medal Packing Co., where she retired many years ago. She is survived by her brother and sister-in law, John and Jean Zumpano; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by six brothers, Albert, Joseph I, Anthony, Ernie, Caesar and Joseph Zumpano; and four sisters, Jennie Zumpano, Rita Paciello, Mary Morreale and Theresa Malara. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitors may pay their respects to the family from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the mass at church. Arrangements are with The Matt Funeral Home of Utica.
