Mrs. Anna I. Burdick, 90, passed away, Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, with her son Roger "Rogie" by her side.
Born in Utica, November 27, 1932, Anna was a daughter of the late Vincent and Carmella (Amendola) Speciale. Raised and educated locally, she attended T.R. Proctor High School. On July 11, 1953, Anna was joined in marriage to Roger E. Burdick. Together, they raised their family and enjoyed a devoted union, until his passing in 2000.
Anna was employed at Univac for many years. She was later employed at Partlow, before retiring in 1994.
Anna was a deeply spiritual woman. She was a devout Catholic, who was dedicated to her home parish, St. Anthony of Padua. She enjoyed gardening, collecting porcelain dolls, and spending time at her camp in Hinckley. Anna kept in her heart the many happy times she spent traveling with Roger to Maine, Cape Cod, and Atlantic City. The couple was lovingly referred to as the “gypsies”.
Anna is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roger Jr. and Elaine Burdick of Yorkville; daughter, Carmella Burdick of Utica; grandchildren, Andrea, Dennis Jr. and Jessica Burdick; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Haylee, Gianna, Kadence, Madison, Jack, Abigail, Dominic, and Ryan; twin brother, Dominick "Doc" Speciale; sister, Angie DeMichele; daughter-in-law, Chris Burdick; and many nieces and nephews. Anna cherished in her heart the memories of her son, Dennis Burdick Sr., who preceded her in death in 2022. She was also predeceased by her brother, Joseph Speciale and sister, Pauline Cavo.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, at Noon, at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church, with interment in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Monday, 10 to 11:30 a.m., at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., Utica.
The family wishes to thank the 3rd floor staff of St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Dr. Sullivan, and PA Zack Arnold, for their care and attention to Anna during this difficult time.
