Anna Conley Obituary

Mrs. Anna Mae (Yaghy) Conley, 76, passed away with her loving family by her side on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare. Anna Mae was born in Utica on August 23, 1940, one of eight children of the late George J. "Tabby" and Mae (Alam) Yaghy. She was educated in local schools and a graduate of TR Proctor High School. On October 21, 1961, Anna Mae was joined in marriage to Robert J. Conley. They shared fifty-four loving years together raising their family. Her beloved Bobby passed away May 25, 2016. Anna Mae was a stay at home mom who dedicated her life to her family. In 1974 Anna Mae and Bobby owned and operated the Valley View "Snack Bar" and held the golf cart concession for 15 years. It was a family run business where everyone felt like family and everyone got a home cooked meal. Anna Mae put her heart into everything she made. The memories from that time in her life were cherished by all who were lucky enough to be a part of it. When Anna Mae was ready to move onto the next phase of her career, she looked to a family friend, Joe Talarico, who hired Anna Mae at the Local UFCW office, where she worked until her retirement. After retirement she spent her days with her adoring husband and family. Her grandchildren brought an immeasurable amount of joy to her life. An amazingly strong, yet graceful woman, she touched the heart of anyone who was lucky enough to know her. She was loving, honorable, and had an undeniable gift in being able to make anyone feel at home in her presence. Her beautiful smile lit the hearts of so many, but especially her husband, and together they were one of the great love stories. They can now spend eternity wrapped in each others arms. She is survived by her beloved children, daughter and son-in-law, Tracy Ann and David Yahnke Sr, her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Jill Conley, and daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Frank Tobin; her six beloved grandchildren, Samantha and David Yahnke, Alexa and Robert Conley, and Matthew and Caroline Tobin; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Beverly and Scott Phillips, Georgianna Kobos, and Christine and Jeff Baker; three brothers, Robert Yaghy, Albert Yaghy, and Michael Yaghy; in-laws, Paul and Patty Reile; and also many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, James Yaghy; and in-laws, Lucille Diodati, Kay Arcuri, William "Billy" Conley, and Sandy Yaghy.vThe family would like to give a special thanks to the nursing staff at the Allen Calder Wing at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare for the loving care shown to their mother during her illness, as well as, Rosie Joseph and Scott Phillips, who were there for her this past year and helped fill the loneliness of her days after she lost her husband. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10 a.m. St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. There are no calling hours.
