Mr. Anthony J. "Tony" Fimmano, 87, passed away at his home on Friday, February 24, 2017 with his loved ones by his side. Tony was born in Utica on March 22, 1929, a son of the late Rocco and Emily (Giordano) Fimmano. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of TR Proctor High School. On August 15, 1964, in Italy, Anthony was joined in marriage to the former Josephine Giordano. They shared over fifty-three loving years together. Tony was employed as a presser at Joseph & Feiss for many years. Anthony loved spending time at home with his wife watching his sports. He was an avid fan of the NY Giants, the NY Yankees, and Syracuse basketball. He is survived his beloved wife, Josephine; his sisters-in-law Angela Fimmano, Utica and Maria Barbero, Australia; his cousin, Larry Belmonte; many nieces and nephews, here and in Australia, especially acknowledging, John and Emily Kipper, Rocco and Hazel Fimmano, and two great nieces, Amanda and Cassandra Malek; and also lifelong family friends, Ralph Cavo and Maria Barile and their families. He was predeceased his twin brother, Ralph J. Fimmano. His funeral will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. from the Matt Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., at Mohawk St., Utica. The family would like to offer their deepest gratitude to the caregivers of Hospice & Palliative Care, especially Crystal, Anne; and Vanessa and Mary of the Senior Network, for all their loving care and compassion during this difficult time.
