Anthony “Tony” Torchia, 75, passed away unexpectedly, on Thursday, February 4, 2021.
Tony was born in Utica, August 30, 1945, a son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Casalaro) Torchia. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of Utica Free Academy.
During the Vietnam War, Tony served our country in the US Army.
On May 20, 1989, Tony was joined in marriage to Darlene Fuller, of whom he was so lovingly protective, and they have been totally devoted to one another for over 31 years.
Tony was employed for many years at Abelove’s Linen Supply, and more recently for Autoparts International, where he made many good friends. Most memorable was his love for the restaurant industry. He was an excellent bartender and restaurateur, who had worked for many bars and restaurants over the years. He once co-owned the Bellevue Restaurant, on Bleecker Street.
Tony, along with his wife, Darlene, would cater and bartend at many private parties and social events. You could always depend on a very thorough job, and with his affable personality and fantastic sense of humor, he always brought a ray of sunshine to your life and you were always guaranteed a good time. If Tony couldn’t make you laugh, there had to be something wrong with you. Rest in Peace Tony, you will be deeply missed!
He is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene; two daughters, Carla and Erica Torchia, of FL; two granddaughters, Brittanee and Jianna; his mother-in-law, Lillian Spaziani; sister-in-law, Donna Castronovo and Michael; his nephews, Joseph Torchia, Tony Esposito and Nicole, Michelle Torchia, Christina and Frank Zogby, Ryan and Jessica Castronovo, David Abounader and Missy; best friends, Gino and Peggy Cormie, and best neighbors, Donny and Elena Talerico.
