Arcadio Soto-Torres

Utica, NY: Arcadio Soto-Torres, 65, passed away, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

Arcadio was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, August 19, 1957, a son of Arcadio Soto and Antonia Torres. He was joined in marriage to his beloved wife, Mercedes Garcia, with whom he shared over 44 loving years of marriage.

Family was the most important thing to Arcadio. He was a hard working man and husband, who went above and beyond to provide for his family. He loved his grandchildren and was always laughing and making everyone around him laugh. Arcadio devoted his whole life to his family, instilling in them many lessons; to work hard and earn an honest living, be a lover of doing the right thing to and for other people, and in every circumstance, choose peace over war. He passed these wisdoms to his children, as if it were a mandate from God; he gave God all the glory.

Arcadio is survived by his wife, Mercedes Garcia; children, Nuiza Zuleyka Soto and Alvado Toro, Josue and Jennifer Soto, and Misael and Alana Soto; grandchildren, Mia Ynoa Soto, Julian Richard Soto, Jovani Emmanuel Soto, Misael Soto, and Emiliano Soto; his mother, Antonia Torres; siblings, Olga Soto, Karen Soto, Damaris Soto, Haydee Soto, and Irma Vera Soto; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Arcadio Soto; and his sister, Norma Soto.

Arcadio’s visitation will be held on Saturday from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., Utica. His service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours.
