Barbara J (Pardi) Gigliotti

Barbara J. (Pardi) Gigliotti, 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at The Residence at Quarry Hill in South Burlington, Vermont.

Barbara was born in Utica, on May 2, 1938, a daughter of the late Alfred and Anne (Zangrilli) Pardi. She was raised and educated in Utica and graduated from T.R. Proctor High School in 1956. She went on to attend Russell Sage College, where she earned a bachelor's degree in English with a minor in History.

Barbara began her career as a teacher before joining the New York State Department of Transportation, where she worked for many years while living in Albany. She treasured the wonderful friendships she formed in her neighborhood, spending time sharing meals, relaxing by the pool, and participating in countless HOA board meetings.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Barbara's grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed cooking for holiday gatherings. Her traditional Italian Christmas cookies and Easter bread became cherished family favorites. An exceptional cook and baker, she took great pride in her Italian heritage.

Every August, Barbara eagerly anticipated the opening of the Saratoga Race Track, where she loved watching the horse races. She was also a devoted admirer of ballet and opera. After moving to The Residence at Quarry Hill in Vermont, she organized opera outings with her new friends and founded a weekly Rosary group that became a meaningful part of her life.

Barbara was fiercely independent and actively involved in everything around her. An adventurous traveler, she explored many parts of the world and even hiked Machu Picchu in her 70s—a remarkable accomplishment at any age. Though small in stature, she possessed extraordinary determination, a vibrant personality, and an unwavering will. There was little she set her mind to that she could not accomplish. Blessed with an exceptional memory, Barbara formed deep and lasting relationships, remembering even the smallest details about the people she loved.

Her family is eternally grateful for the wonderful memories created during the past several years while she lived in Vermont. They extend their heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff at The Residence at Quarry Hill for the compassionate care they provided over the past year and a half. Barbara truly enjoyed her time there and often said she wished she had made the move even sooner.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Michael Gigliotti, and Mark Gigliotti and his wife, Laura; her beloved grandchildren, Sophia Gigliotti and Nicholas Gigliotti; her brother and sister-in-law, Al and Jean Pardi of Rochester, NY; her sister and brother-in-law, Regina and Frank Sliwa of Orleans, MA; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Barbara's family honored her life privately. She has been laid to rest at Crown Hill Memorial Park.
