Mrs. Betty (Magistro) Campese, 97, passed away at her home, with her loving family by her side, Friday, March 3, 2023.
Betty was born in Utica, July 25, 1925, a daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Fragetta) Magistro. She was educated in local schools and a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School.
On January 17, 1949, Betty was joined in marriage to Louis T. Campese and they shared sixty-one loving years of marriage. Louis passed away on April 14, 2010.
Mrs. Campese was employed in the Collection Department of Oneida County Social Services, for over twenty years. She was a communicant of Grace Church.
Betty’s joy in life was sharing her self taught cooking skills with her family. She was an outstanding cook and baker and always had a perfectly made meal, with dessert, every night. She will also be remembered for her great love of animals.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Betty L. Campese and her partner, Mark Artessa; son, Louis R. Campese; daughter, Karen A. Campese; daughter-in-law, Theresa (Caputo) Campese; and also many nieces and nephews, especially her niece, Peggy Stewart; and special family friends, Anna Case and Rose DeSantis. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis; her son, Frank A. Campese, who was always close to her heart; and her brother, Charles V. Magistro.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service on Tuesday, at 11 a.m., at Grace Church, in Utica. The family will greet visitors in church following services. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
