Bonnie Walsh Obituary

Mrs. Bonnie Joyce Walsh, 77, formerly of Whitesboro, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 29, 2022, at the Masonic Care Community.

Bonnie was born in Utica, April 18, 1945, the daughter of the late Anthony R. Sr. and Angeline (Colosimo) Pellegrino. She was educated in local schools and a graduate of TR Proctor High School. Bonnie later attended Onondaga Community College, receiving an Associate’s Degree as a Dental Hygienist. Bonnie furthered her education at Utica College and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, along with her teaching certificate.  She went on to receive her Master’s Degree from Syracuse University and continued advanced studies for administration.

Early in her career, Bonnie taught at Our Lady of Czestochowa School in New York Mills for three years and also taught the Fundamentals of Education at Buffalo State University. For most of her career, Mrs. Walsh was an elementary school teacher, in the Oriskany School system, where she was much loved by her many students.  She retired in 2004. A proponent of education, she also served a term with the Whitesboro School Board.

A woman of faith, Bonnie was a devoted and active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, in Whitesboro and belonged to its Adoration Society, as well as, many other church organizations.

A lady with great style, Bonnie had a passion for shopping. She accumulated an extensive wardrobe, and never left the house without a well put together outfit, including jewelry, and flawless makeup. Bonnie loved her outings with friends, including attending concerts, shows or a nice dinner out. Her sense of humor was appreciated by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She enjoyed her home, especially her flower gardens, and was a very devoted daughter, who lovingly cared for her parents.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Anthony R. Jr. and Frances Pellegrino; nieces and nephews, Anthony R. Pellegrino III, Betty J. and Noel Gebauer, and Julie and Brian Gilbert; great nieces and great nephews, Freda, Antonella, Max, Emma, Haley, Alexander, and Katherine; her dear friend,  Mary Cole; her beloved canine son, “Jack”; and her many loving cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Angeline; and her husband, Terrence Walsh.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, in Whitesboro. The family will greet visitors following mass. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Westchester House of the Masonic Care Community that cared for her during her stay there.
