Carmen Filletti Obituary

Carmen Bruno Filletti, 61, passed away with family by his side, Friday, December 3, 2021. Sadly we lost Carmen to the Covid pandemic.

Carmen was born in New Hartford, February 18, 1960, a son of the late Carmen “Nooch” and Corinne “Bunny” (Giruzzi) Filletti. He was raised in Utica, attended local schools, and graduated from TR Proctor High School. In high school, he excelled in football, went on to play at Ithaca College, where he was a proud Ithaca Bomber. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Syracuse University at Utica College.

On October 6, 1984, Carmen was joined in marriage to Lisa Collicco and together they raised their adored family in Marcy, where they shared many happy lifelong memories.

Carmen spent the beginning of his career at General Electric and later, Lockheed Martin. He was recently employed, as an Engineer, at Advanced Automation Corp. He was also an accomplished custom home builder, and along with his wife, operated Car-Li Home Builder’s Inc. Together they have completed over 80 beautiful homes throughout the area.

An accomplished guitarist, Carmen’s love of music was a big part of his life and some of his happiest times were playing with his co-workers and friends, as a member of The Band Tyler.

Carmen had a love for speed and anything with a motor. He enjoyed taking trips on his motorcycle with Lisa, who always had his back, as well as boating with his family in the 1000 Islands. He always looked forward to his track time at the Watkins Glenn International.

A truly unique person, Carmen's sense of humor and ability to “bust chops” allowed him to make friends wherever he went. He had the ability to make everyone feel special in their own way.

He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Lisa; three children, Nina (Mark) Ranieri, Carmen Bruno Jr. (Erin) Filletti, and Bianca (Greg) Bussey; his adored grandchildren, Olivia, Marky, Juliana, Dominick, Francis, and Salvatore Ranieri, Torenzo and Oren Filletti, and Wyatt Bussey; his sister, Mary (Gary) Mancuso; brother, Paul (Tammy) Filletti; mother-in-law, Tessie Collicco; in-laws, Anthony (Kelly) Collicco Jr. and Michael (Maria) Collicco; also many beloved aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of lifelong friends, too numerous to mention, but you know who you are.

He was predeceased by his parents, “Nooch” and “Bunny”; his father-in-law, Anthony “Tony” Collicco; and his grandson, Vincenzo Ranieri.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Relatives and friends may call Sunday, December 12, 2021, 3 to 5 p.m., at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., at Mohawk St., Utica. Visitors are required to wear a face mask, both at the funeral home and the church.
