Mrs. Catherine T. (Cavaretta) "Kay" Semeraro, 83, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, April 4, 2017. She was born in Utica on January 26, 1934, a daughter of the late Leonard and Lucy (Paletta) Cavaretta. She was educated in local schools and a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On June 12, 1954, Kay was joined in marriage to Richard C. Semeraro. They shared over sixty-one loving years together raising their two children and their grandchildren. Kay was employed at the Teamsters Union, where she was an executive secretary for over thirty years. Her favorite pastime was going to Vernon Downs, where she earned her name "Kay-Cino". She also enjoyed spending time getting together for dinner with her high school friends and co-workers. Kay was a spiritual and caring person, who loved her family, and always put them before herself. She took great pride in her career and was a very supportive wife in her husband's career in the US Air Force. She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard; her loving children, daughter, Debra Blazek and her husband, Dennis, of New Hartford, her son, Richard Semeraro and his wife, Deborah, of North Utica; her four beloved grandchildren, Jonathon Blazek, of NYC, Jeffrey Blazek, of Lake Placid, Alexandra Semeraro and her boyfriend, Justin Miller, of Rome, and Vincent Semeraro and his girlfriend, Becky Wind, of New Hartford; her brother, Phil Cavaretta and his wife, Mary Lou of FL, two sisters-in-law, Grace Toti and Janet Semeraro, both of PA; and also many nieces and nephews, all who she loved very much and were very special to her. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Tom Dobbins, of CO; and two brothers-in-law, John Toti; and Dr. Russell Semeraro, both of PA.
