Charles Sardina Obituary

Charles S. Sardina, 84, passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 24, 2023.

Charles was born in Utica, May 21, 1939, a son of the late Samuel and Mary (DeFazio) Sardina. He was educated in local schools, a graduate of TR Proctor High School, and later studied some college courses. Charles proudly served our country in the US Navy.

On May 22, 1983, he was joined in marriage to Melanie Gutowski and they have shared forty loving years of marriage.

A man of great compassion, he was employed as a Mental Health Therapy Aide and eventually retired from Human Technologies Corp, as an advisor for those with disabilities.

A man of great faith, he loved to sing in church choirs. He was a member of the St. Rosalia Society and enjoyed helping with the festival. Charles loved going to the movies, watching TV, and could name who starred in any movie in the last 70 years. He will be missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Melanie; his daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Mark Randall; his son, Charles Sardina; step-daughter, Tammy Crouse; brother and sister-in-law, Samuel and Joyce Sardina; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Stephanie Zayas, Rose Marie O’Shea, and Peter and Deborah Gutowski; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Angela Sardina; and brother, Paul Sardina.

There will be no calling hours and his family honored him privately.
