Daniel A. DeGeorge, 83, passed away peacefully at his North Utica home, with loving family by his side Friday, July 3, 2026.

Dan was born in Utica, January 13, 1943, a son of the late Vincent A. and Theadora “Teddy” (Scalise) DeGeorge. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School.

On April 4, 1964, Dan was joined in marriage to the former Barbara A. Scire. Dan and Barb have shared over sixty-two loving years of marriage, devoted to each other and their family in every way.

Dan was a truck driver employed at the F.X. Matt Brewing Co. for over forty years. He was heavily involved in the local Teamsters Union and always enjoyed going to the monthly breakfast with his good friend, Tony DeBella. A true family man, there was nothing he enjoyed more than sitting around a table with his kids and grandkids.

A loving husband, father, and papa, Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; children, Danna and Mark Zegarelli, Vincent DeGeorge and his fiancé, Mary Ellen Ruiz, and Daniel and Nicole DeGeorge; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, siblings, Carol and Jim Pflumm, Ronald DeGeorge, and Joan DeGeorge and her fiancé David Cefaly; and a niece and many nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Diane Laribee.

In keeping with Dan’s wishes his family has honored him privately with interment in St. Agnes Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., for the care shown to Dan during this difficult time. They especially would like to thank his nurse, Nicole, for all she has done.
