David M. Montrose, 71, of Utica, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2023, in the comfort of his own home, after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born on September 11, 1952, in Utica, a son of the late Frank and Jean (Arcuri) Montrose. He was raised and educated in New Hartford and was graduate of New Hartford Senior High School. Dave was once joined in marriage to the former Jan Marie Howarth, with whom he spent 15 years of marriage.
David was a talented musician who played a little bit of everything, but was especially good at playing the drums. He was known as the best double bass drummer, most people have heard. Although Dave was a man who liked to keep to him-self, if he considered you a friend, he was loyal to the end.
David was predeceased by his sister Karen M. Montrose, who passed away in 2007; his brother Francis P. “Butch” Montrose, who passed away in 2008; also several aunts and uncles. He is survived by family and friends.
There will be no formal services. David’s family has honored him privately and he was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery with his beloved mother.
The family would like to thank Pat Morrisey, who is David’s neighbor and friend, for his years of friendship and assistance in helping David with his day to day needs throughout the years.
