David B. Vaccarelli, 34, of Utica, passed away at his home unexpectedly, due to cardiac complications, on Sunday, May 12, 2024.
David was born in Syracuse, January 7, 1990, a son of Joseph F. and Barbara (Dust) Vaccarelli. He was raised in Poland with Joseph and Barbara Inserra, of whom he regarded as his mom and dad. He was educated in local schools and a 2008 graduate of Notre Dame High School, later receiving some college credits.
An avid sports fan, he had all the knowledge in the world when it came to sports. He always wanted to be a sports writer, because he could express himself eloquently in writing rather than face to face. Although David was one to keep to himself, he was always the first one to call on holidays or to wish his loved ones a happy birthday. He was a huge NY Yankee, Buffalo Bills, and Philadelphia Eagles fan. David also enjoyed cooking, taking cooking classes, and participated in every event at “the corner”, where he won a crockpot in a chili cook-off. David enjoyed volunteering at St. Joseph St. Patrick Church, in Utica, in the kitchen, where he would help serve meals. A man of faith, he was devoted to St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, where he was an altar server, for several years, at the Sunday morning 8 a.m. mass. His presence there will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his mom, Barbara Inserra; siblings, Yvonne Inserra and George O’Neil, Joe Inserra, Bernadette Inserra and Garrett Ayers, Jason Dust, Valerie and Pete Giaquinto, and Crystal and Eric Miller; a special aunt, Judy Roberts; special uncle and aunt, Tony and Amy Vaccarelli; biological mother, Barbara Dust; grandmother, Alice Dust; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his dad, Joseph Inserra; and biological father, Joseph Vaccarelli.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, May 16, at 12 Noon, at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Private entombment services will be at Calvary Cemetery.
