Dolores Caviola Obituary

Dolores (Mack) Caviola, 92, passed away peacefully, at the Mulberry House of Sitrin Health Care Center, New Hartford, NY, March 11, 2025.

Dolores was born in Utica, March 8, 1933, a daughter of the late Francis and Helen (Miller) Mack. She was raised and educated locally and graduated from UFA, in 1951. She later went on to attend St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1954 and began her nursing career.

Dolores later went to the University of the State of New York, where she received a Bachelor's degree in Nursing in 1985.

On November 19, 1955, Dolores married Enrico Monti, with whom she shared nearly 15 years of marriage and raised her three children. She later married Pasquale Caviola on October 27, 1972. The couple shared a devoted and loving bond for nearly 30 years, until Pasquale's passing in 2001.

For many years, Dolores was employed as a Registered Nurse at St. Elizabeth's and St. Luke's Hospitals, and the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA). She dedicated her life to this profession and to helping others. A devout lifelong Catholic, Dolores was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church, where she attended Mass and Bible study groups.

She was a proud member of the St. Anne Society and spent many hours in her later years volunteering at local shelters and rescue missions.

Although she had many passions in life, family was always her priority. She loved creating a warm and welcoming home and cooking for them. An avid reader, Dolores enjoyed painting, art classes, music, and especially spending time outdoors, whether gardening or watching the sunset from her porch, with a glass of single malt scotch and her beloved Patsy. Always ready for an adventure, she loved camping trips and cruises, and cherished family vacations by the ocean, from Maine to Florida.

Dolores is survived by her children, Renee Monti-Fitzgerald and her husband, Garrett, of New Hartford, NY, Mark Monti and his wife, Rena, of Penfield, NY, and Gisella Monti of Penfield, NY; her grandchildren, Pasquale and Lisa Monti, Sarah and Brian Schnitzer, Elizabeth and Michael Corelli, Kathryn and Ross Thomas, Benjamin and Megan Monti, and Emily Monti; and her great-grandchildren, Adeline and Atlas Thomas, and Olivia and Rylyn Monti. She was predeceased by her parents, including her stepfather, Wilfred Arcand, many cherished cousins, and her beloved cat, Daisy.

Dolores' Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 27th, at 12:00 PM, at St. Mary of Mount Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish in Utica. The family will receive visitors following the mass. Her burial will take place in St. George's Cemetery, in Whitesboro, at the convenience of the family.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff at Sitrin Health Care Center, particularly those in the Mulberry House, for their compassionate care of Dolores during her stay. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Anita's Stevens-Swan Humane Society or to a charity of one's choice.
