Dolores Mancuso Wegrzyn

Mrs. Dolores (Kojeski) Mancuso Wegrzyn, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 9, 2016 at The Presbyterian Home. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on April 2, 1922, the daughter of George and Frances (Owens) Kojeski. She was raised in Little Rock and attended local schools. Dolores was a musical talent at an early age and pursued this passion throughout her life. She traveled with many bands throughout the country during WWII. In 1944, in Nashville, Dolores was joined in marriage to Salvatore "Sam" Mancuso, a well known local jazz musician. For over thirty-three years as a couple, they enjoyed playing and singing; and later along with their son, Sam, a well know local drummer, in the Sammy Mancuso Trio. Salvatore passed away in 1977. Dolores married a second time in 1979 to Joseph Wegrzyn and they enjoyed over thirty-one happy years together until his passing in 2010. A loving mother and grandmother, Dolores is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Debra Mancuso of Marcy; grandchildren, Sam Mancuso and Monique Inserra, Jeremy Mancuso, Mark and Breanna Mancuso, Michael and Shelby Mancuso; two great granddaughters, Sophia and Isabella Mancuso; and also several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday from 9 to 11 a.m. at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., Utica. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to offer their deepest gratitude to the Birch Unit of the Presbyterian Home for their loving care shown to Dolores during her stay there.
