Dominick T. Testa Jr., 65, passed away unexpectedly, May 17th, 2024, at the place he loved most, “The River”.
He was born on Dec. 7, 1958, to the late Dominick T. Testa Sr. and Filomena “Fannie” Sciorilli of Utica. He was raised and educated locally and a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School, class of 1976. On October 7, 1989, Dominick was joined in marriage to the former Sandra Gress, with whom he shared over 34 loving years.
He was truly a “Jack of all Trades” like his father. Specializing in carpentry for many years and running his own company, “Country Carpenter”. He also loved to invent things, such as a computer software program called Pic N’ Color. Dominick worked hard in everything he did. He was always helping others, and did above and beyond what was needed. He did a lot of work for his church, St. Joseph the Worker Parish, in West Winfield, NY, where he was a dedicated member and he would talk about it all the time. He was a proud man, who built many things by hand and always had a solution to a problem. While in the Thousand Islands, he enjoyed fishing and camping for many years with his family. He loved spending time on “The River” and driving his faithful companion Granger around on the boat. Dominick was an avid Bruce Springsteen fan, attended many concerts, and felt Bruce’s songs spoke to him and his life. He much more recently got into flying drones and taking all sorts of scenic pictures and videos that he enjoyed showing off to his family. He thoroughly enjoyed all the “toys” that he had, four wheelers, snowmobiles, and other heavy equipment. He especially enjoyed taking cruises in his corvette or on his motorcycle. He passed along so much knowledge and skills to those around him. He would show you how to do something and be there to guide you. He loved his family deeply and had a passion for many things. He could do anything he set his mind to. He left behind a legacy that will be remembered for years to come and will be hard to fill.
Dominick is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Testa; his children, Amy Barringer, Hilary Kielar and Jason Olender, Chelsea Testa, and Dominick Testa III; grandchildren, Jonas, Sydney, Stella, Liam, and Michele Barringer, and Hunter Olender; Four siblings and four step siblings. He left behind so many others that cared for him, including many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and his best friend and beloved dog, Granger. He is predeceased by both of his loving parents; stepmother, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., Utica. His funeral mass will be held on Wednesday May 29 at 9:30 a.m., at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 303 W. Main St., West Winfield. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
