After a long and wonderful life, our mother and grandmother passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 27, 2022, in Sarasota, FL.
Eleanor was born in Utica, NY, August 3, 1927, a daughter of Benedict and Mamie (DeFilippis) D’Acunto. She was educated in local schools and a graduate of TR Proctor High School.
On August 28, 1948, Eleanor was joined in marriage to Frank J. Pape. They shared forty loving years of marriage until Frank’s passing on June 19, 1988.
Eleanor was employed for many years as an Administrative Assistant to the Postmaster at the U.S. Post Office in Utica.
Eleanor’s quiet beauty was manifested both inside and out. She was a woman of style and grace. A very loving mother, grandmother, and aunt, she always enjoyed baking pies, cookies, and biscotti for her daughters, grandchildren, and extended family.
A woman of deep faith, Eleanor was always actively involved in her home parish of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel, where she volunteered her time in many church societies and activities.
She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Frank D. Gerace of St. Petersburg, FL and Diane Porter of Palmetto, FL; grandchildren Maria and Dr. Ronald Vitullo, Dominick and Stephanie Gerace, Dr. Vanessa and Noel Bouché, Francesca and Matthew Jensen, and Krista and Joseph Bellini; and 11 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Sylvester Poccia and Angela and Patrick Capraro; niece, Janice Felitto; and nephew, Benedict Poccia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Eleanor’s family will greet visitors following mass. Private entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum.
