Mrs. Eleanor E. “Mitzi” (DeMola) Giehl, 89, passed away peacefully, with her loving family by her side, Monday, November 28, 2022, at The St. Luke’s Home.
Mitzi was born in Utica, February 11, 1933, a daughter of the late Querico and Mary (Falzarine) DeMola. She attended Brandagee School and T.R. Proctor High School.
She was employed for many years, as a bookkeeper and office worker, at Abelove’s Laundry; and later as food service supervisor at the Valhaven Home for Adults, in Utica, for over twenty years. At one time, Eleanor was married to the late Eugene Giehl.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Mitzi loved cooking for her family, and spending time with her adored grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also had a passion for her time spent at the casino.
She is survived by her beloved children, Steve DeMola (Toni) of NJ, Linda Tripodi of Buffalo, Gene Giehl of Ilion, Mary Yeomans (Kenneth Robidoux) of Utica, Gary Giehl (Kathleen) of Utica and Dana Clark (Charles) of Ilion; also many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her brother, Charles DeMola (Linda). She was predeceased by her brother, Robert DeMola.
Mitzi’s family will honor her in a private ceremony and she will be laid to rest with her beloved parents at Calvary Cemetery.
