Elizabeth Anne “Liz” (Roberts) Scalise, 81, passed away peacefully, with the love of her family in her heart, and by her side, Saturday, November 13, 2021.
Elizabeth was born in Rome, NY on July 28, 1940, a daughter of the late Francis and Ivy (Townsend) Roberts. She was raised and educated in Utica, attended St. Agnes Catholic School, and was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy.
On July 8, 1961, Elizabeth was joined in marriage to the love of her life, Anthony M. “Tony” Scalise. Liz and Tony have shared over sixty-one loving years of marriage, living and raising their large family in Utica, and later enjoying many happy retired years in Myrtle Beach.
Liz worked for several years, as the office clerk, in the Oneida County Comptroller’s office, and was employed for many years at Oneida National Bank. She later attended Mohawk Valley Community College, receiving her Medical Secretaries Certificate, which led to her employment and retirement from St. Elizabeth Medical Center, as their secretary of maintenance and engineering.
Liz and Tony enjoyed walking the Market Commons, in Myrtle Beach, SC and later in the afternoon enjoyed sharing a coffee and sweet tea together at the Donut Man. Liz and Tony’s most cherished times were being surrounded by their children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed shopping with her daughters and grandchildren.
Liz is survived by her beloved husband, Tony; five children, Christine (Donald) Younglove, Fort Mill, SC, Peter F. Scalise (Michele Nizzi), Latham, NY, Annmarie (Steven) Kinsella, Schuyler, NY, Anthony Michael Jr. (Kristen) Scalise, Westmoreland, NY, and Joseph (Mary) Scalise, Schuyler, NY; former daughter-in-law, Gail Scalise, Utica, NY; her adored grandchildren, Matthew (Sara) Younglove, Jordan Younglove, Seth Younglove, Mikaela Scalise, Karissa (Nick) Madden, Leanne Kinsella, Steven Kinsella, Sydney Kinsella, Anthony Scalise III, Andrew Scalise, Michael Scalise, Isabella Scalise, Jacob Scalise, and Brianna Scalise; brothers and sisters, Barbara Nole, Carol (Scott) Nicotera, Joanne (Armand) DeRocco, Sharon Steppello, Judith VanGorder, Francis (Katie) Roberts, Pamela Hood, Mary Lourdes DeVito, Michael (Lynne) Roberts, Ivy (Mike) Maphia, and David (Debbie) Roberts; her in-laws, Peter (Nancy) Scalise, Maryann (Bill) Millward, and Anna Scalise; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Benny Scalise, Donald Steppello, Albert Devito, Daniel Nole, Dale Van Gorder, and Gary Hood.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial, at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, 10 a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2021. By family request, all visitors are asked to wear face coverings. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
