Francis DiDominick Obituary

Mr. Francis G. DiDominick, 93, passed away peacefully, July 10, 2026, at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, in Ilion.

Francis was born in Utica, November 6, 1932, a son of the late Gerald and Mary (Collea) DeDominick. He was raised and educated locally in Utica and went on to proudly serve our country in the US Army. On May 8, 1954 Frank was joined in marriage to the former Rose Marie Partipelo, with whom he shared over 45 years of loving marriage until Rose’s passing on March 3, 2000.

Frank was a joy to everyone he met, as his greatest passion in life was helping people. A devout Catholic, Frank was devoted to Historic Old St. Johns Church, where he would assist during masses, whether it be unlocking church in the morning or as an usher with the collections basket, Frank would do it all. An avid outdoorsman, some of his favorite times were spent in the woods hunting or up at the river fishing. Frank had a camp on the St. Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands, where he enjoyed spending time both with family and in the community. He was a big part of coordinating their Christmas in July at the local parish.

A mechanic by trade, Frank was employed by the State of New York, for many years, in transportation services. Frank was a hard worker who also spent many years helping run the family restaurant, Chesterfields, where the family spent many Sundays helping out, as well as, much needed family time together.

Francis is survived by his daughter, June Petillo of Berlin, CT; grandchildren, Valene-Lynne Petillo and Christopher Francis Petillo; great granddaughter, Sofia Veronica Petillo; Betty Hulsaver, who was like a daughter to Frank; sister-in-law, Anna Smith of Syracuse; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Rose; daughter, Kelley DiDominick; son-in-law, James World; sisters, Edith DeDominick and Betty DeDominick, and a nephew, Nicholas DeDominick, who was like a son to Frank.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, July 17, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., at Historic Old St. John’s Church, in Utica. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of mass. Frank will be laid to rest with his beloved wife and daughter in Crown Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Wynn Hospital and Hospice Care for all their care and compassion shown to Frank.
