Frank A. “Babe” DiBrango, Sr. , 85, passed away with his loving family by his side, Friday, August 9, 2024.
He was born in Utica, June 22, 1939, the youngest of eleven children to Carmine and Josephine (Insernia) DiBrango. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of TR Proctor High School.
On November 22, 1958, Babe was joined in marriage to the former Jean A. Furgol. They have shared over sixty-five loving years of marriage, life, and children.
A very hard worker, Frank spent his whole life performing many jobs to support his family and retired from the Special Metals Corp., where he spent most of his working life.
In younger years, Babe loved to hunt and was always an avid golfer. His happiest times were spent around his extensive family. He loved to be around the kids, and they will all deeply miss “Poppie Babe”.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean; children, Frank A. Jr. and Deanna DiBrango, Deborah A. and Nicholas Dardano Jr., Joseph and Jolene DiBrango, George and Karen DiBrango, and Michael and Jennifer DiBrango; grandchildren, Frank and Melissa DiBrango, and Alyssa DiBrango, Marie and Michael Popowski, Nicole and Mathew Malecki, Sean DiBrango, Hannah DiBrango, Kyra Johnson, Michael DiBrango, and John DiBrango; great grandchildren, Marchesa and Rocco DiBrango, Ellie and Evan Popowski, and one on the way; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marianne DiBrango, Joseph and Elaine Furgol, and Patricia Kratzenberg; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his beloved grandson, Vincent DiBrango whom he missed dearly; six brothers, Angelo, Joseph, George, Robert, Edward, and Anthony DiBrango; and four sisters, Marie Calenzo, Julia Picente, Lucy Gentile, and Rose Palmisano.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, August 12, 2024, at 12 Noon, at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon, at church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
