Georgiana (Yaghy) Kobos, 80, passed away peacefully, with the love of her family in her heart, Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehab Center, in Rome, NY.
Georgiana was born in Utica, August 14, 1945, a daughter of the late George and Mae (Alam) Yaghy. She was raised and educated locally. She attended T.R. Proctor High School, and later went on to Utica College. She worked her entire life to support her family. Georgiana was employed by General Electric, Chicago Pneumatic, MVCC, Syracuse University, for many years, and DFAS at Griffiss Air Force Base, where she was an accounting specialist.
Georgiana loved cooking for her family, especially traditional Italian and Lebanese meals. She refused to let anyone leave her table hungry. Holidays with family meant the world to her and she cherished her time spent with grandchildren. Christmas was her favorite time of year, as she was known for baking dozens of cookies, which she would distribute to friends and neighbors. She liked to bowl, enjoyed watching classic movies, and loved listening to music, especially Michael Bolton and Barbara Streisand.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Shawn Molloy; son, Paul James Kobos; grandchildren, Kayla Recor and Nathan Kobos; and her siblings, Robert “Bobby” Yaghy, Michael Yaghy, and Christina and Jeffrey Baker; brother-in-law, Scott Phillips; longtime friend, Jewell Kent. She was predeceased by her daughter, Karen Kobos; siblings, Beverly Phillips, Anna Mae and Robert Conley, Albert and Sandra Yaghy, and James Yaghy.
In accordance with Georgiana’s wishes there will be no formal services. Her family has honored her privately at this time. She has been laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, in Utica, with her beloved daughter, Karen.
The family would like to thank the staff at Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehab Center for their care and compassion shown to Georgiana during her stay this past year.
Arrangements are with The Matt Funeral Home, Utica.
