Mr. Gerard A. “Gerry” Sessa Sr., 92, passed away peacefully, with his loved ones by his side, October 9, 2024, at the Sitrin Rehab Center, New Hartford.
Gerry was born in Utica, NY, March 8, 1932, a son of the late Albert and Josephine (Chancia) Sessa. He was raised and educated locally and a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School in 1950.

He was grateful to be part of the honor flight, which visited the Korean War Memorial, in Washington D.C. Gerry always enjoyed his time spent at the horse track, whether with family or friends, and especially enjoyed his trips to the Saratoga Race Track.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Susanne Sessa; children, Gerard Sessa Jr., Jacquie and Richard Reile, John Sessa, and Frank and Doreen Dobrzenski; grandchildren, Leanne and Greg Stegman, Gerard and Rhonda Sessa III, Joseph Sessa, Taylor and Sabrina Sessa, Jacqueline Sessa, John Sessa, Amanda and Aaron Williams, Jennifer and Michael Smart, Tiffany Sanderson, Rebekah Dobrzenski; great-grandchildren, Gerard Sessa IV, James Sessa, Elizabeth Sessa, Colson Sessa, Damian Perrot, Lily Perrot, Max Sanderson, Leo Sanderson, Mackenzie Smart, Levi Smart, Micah Smart, Judah Smart, and Noelle Smart. Gerry’s visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m., at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., Utica. Calling hours will end with a prayer. Gerry’s burial will take place, Tuesday, 12 noon, at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, where he will receive full military honors and burial.
