Gertrude M. Sheerin

Mrs. Gertrude M. (Aniceto) Sheerin, 83, passed away with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. She was born in Utica on November 19, 1932, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Rizzo) Aniceto and was educated in Whitesboro and Lowville schools. Gertrude had been married to Raymond F. Sheerin, who predeceased her. She was employed as an accountant and mediator for Catholic Charities of Utica. Surviving are five beloved daughters, Shary Sheerin of NC, Karen Slocum of Herkimer, Angel Sheerin of Unadilla, Jacleen Fifield and Jewel Stafford both of Ilion; also several beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Reva Foley; her mother, Rose Edicola Capparelli; and her father, Frank Aniceto. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday (Today) at 11 am at The Church of the Annunciation in Ilion, NY. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Utica. Relatives and friends may call prior to the mass from 10 to 11 am at the church. Arrangements are with The Matt Funeral Home of Utica, NY.
