James Sageer Obituary

James William Sageer, 64, passed away unexpectedly, in the peace of his own home, January 14, 2024.

Jimmy was born in Utica, NY, July 3, 1959, to the late Joseph and Dorothy (Potter) Sageer. He was once happily married to Donna Cavo, with whom he shared his beloved children.

James entered into the family business, Sageer Glass Company Inc., where he started his career, as a glass glazier. He later was employed at D & M Glazing, for several years and then NEP Glass Co., in Herkimer, NY. Jimmy spent several years working for the Crawford-Tracy Corporation, based out of South Florida, where he worked all over the state as a glazier.

When Jimmy entered the room, it lit up, and everyone knew the fun, laughter, and spark he brought to every gathering. He enjoyed people, loved being with family and friends, was always great company, and could converse on many subjects with his great perspective. Jim was always ready to work and loved helping the people around him. He would often take care of other people, before taking care of himself. He loved his scratch offs and early morning coffee runs with his son.

Jimmy adored his grandchildren and his favorite was bringing the kids to school in the morning, so he could stop at Dunkin Donuts to get them breakfast sandwiches. Jimmy always lived life to the fullest, he lived, laughed, loved, and “He did it his way”.

Jim is survived by his children, son, Santo Sageer and daughter, Amber Sageer; beloved grandchildren, Gracie, Vincenzo, and Marcello Sageer; brother and sister-in-law, George and Sandy Sageer; sister and brother-in-law, Selma and Anthony Fumarola; nieces and nephews, Allen Clarke, Joseph and Melissa Sageer, Mary Fumarola, Anthony Fumarola and his fiancé Kate Masullo, and Allie and Kyle Florczyk; special attention for the “skis”; Joeski, Santski, and Antski; and several cousins including a special cousin, Billy DeFazio. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Kamaley Sageer; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed, will be offered by Abouna Boutros El Hachem, Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Louis Gonzaga Church. The family will greet visitors at the end of the service.
