James M. “Jim” Woodard, 82, passed away peacefully, with the love of family in his heart, Wednesday, February 22, 2023, after a courageous battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma.
Jim was born in Bangor, ME, December 7, 1940, a son of late Lewis and Florence Woodard. He was raised and educated in Bangor until the age of 12, when his family moved to Hartford, CT, where he attended St. Joseph Cathedral Parochial Schools
A proud American, Jim served in the US Marine Corps, from 1958-1962. He was a Sharp Shooter, Squad Machine Gun Specialist, MP, and Proof Director Small Arms, who was Honorably Discharged at the rank of CPL E-4, with a Good Conduct Medal.
Jim lived in New Britain, CT and had a passion for Wine and Spirits. He was a General Manager of Harvest Hill Package Stores, of West Hartford, CT, for 15 years and later, Regional Sales Manager for Hartley and Parker LTD, of Stamford, CT, for 25 years and while in Hartford, Jim was a member of the Wampanoag Country Club. In 2006, he retired to Chambersburg, PA, where he was a member of the Green Village Church of God and the Chambersburg Country Club.
Jim loved golf, dancing, cars, listening to Elvis Presley, and watching sporting events, especially the New England Patriots and UConn Huskies basketball. His favorite part of life was time spent with his family and friends, all over the country. Jim had a wonderful personality and would light up every room he entered. He loved to travel and for the last 12 years enjoyed spending winters in Hutchinson Island, FL.
Jim touched so many lives and he will be missed by all, especially his loving and devoted wife of 20 years, Donna (Goddard) Woodard; his son and daughter-in-law, Todd-Michael and Ellen Woodard, and their two sons, Joseph and Robert, of Valdosta, GA; his daughter and son-in-law, Trista-Marie (Woodard) and Craig Goguen and their two sons, Ben and Brady, of Nashville, TN; brother and sister-in-law, George and Ruth Ann Woodard, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; several nieces and nephews; and Donna’s siblings, children, and grandchildren, who adored him and lovingly called him “Grampa Jim”.
