Janet Clements Obituary

Janet C. Clements, 86, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on Friday, January 17, 2025, at The Pines in Utica.

Janet was born on November 28, 1938, in Ilion, NY, the daughter of the late Harold and Ruth (Brewer) Clements. She was raised and educated locally, graduating with honors from Ilion High School in 1956, and in 1958, Janet married Richard A. Reinertson.

For nearly two decades, Janet built a successful career in the advertising department of the Utica Observer-Dispatch, from where she retired in 1995. Known for her dedication, professionalism and warm personality, she formed lifelong friendships and earned the respect of her community for her work with local businesses. Later in her career, she worked as an Executive Assistant to John Zogby, CEO of Zogby International, of whom she deeply respected in a role she took great pride in.

Janet had a profound love for the arts and culture. She enjoyed reading, visiting museums, attending Broadway musicals, the cinema, and immersing herself in all things creative. An animal lover at heart, she especially cherished her beloved dog, Murray. Above all, Janet treasured her time with family, particularly her eight grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.

Janet is survived by her four children and their spouses: Mark and Harriet Reinertson of New York, NY; Lori and Paul Owens of Utica; Linda and Charles Rangel of San Jose, CA; and Deborah and Cain Monti of Mill Valley, CA. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Timothy Owens, Olivia Reinertson, Kevin Owens, Eric Reinertson, Jace Monti, Mikaela Rangel, Cole Monti, and Christian Rangel; her nephews William Clements, Jon Clements, and Chris Clements; her niece Yvonne Winters; her sister-in-law Eleanor Clements; and many cousins. Janet was predeceased by her brothers, William Clements and baby brother Gary Clements, as well as her cherished dog Murray.

In honoring Janet’s wishes, the family held a private remembrance. A celebration of her life will be planned at a later date.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Carlos and the staff on the third floor at The Pines at Utica for their care and compassion during Janet’s stay.
