Janice Felitto Obituary

Janice C. (Capraro) Felitto, 70, passed away, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by those she loved, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, May 8, 2022.

Janice was born in Utica, NY, February 9, 1952, a daughter of the late Patrick T. and Angela (D’Acunto) Capraro. She was raised in Utica, attended St. Mary of Mt. Carmel School, and was a graduate of St. Francis DeSales High School. On June 14, 1975, Janice was joined in marriage to Anthony J. “Tony” Felitto. They have shared forty-six loving years of marriage.

Janice was employed, for over twenty-seven years, as a Senior Examiner and Supervisor for Medicaid for Oneida County, retiring in 2017.

She was a lifelong communicant, lector, and certified Lay Minister for St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish.  She was also a thirty year volunteer for the Utica Boilermaker and St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament feast.

A very family-oriented person, Janice devoted much of her life to caring for her parents and was like a second mother to many of her nieces and nephews.

Stunningly beautiful and a truly professional shopper, Janice was always meticulously put together from her head to her toes and lit up every room she entered. She leaves a deep void that can never be filled.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Tony; her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce (Capraro) and Joseph Faughnan of St. Paul, MN; her twin brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Carol Capraro of Richmond, VA; and her brother and sister-in-law, David and Deborah Capraro of San Antonio, TX; two aunts, Eleanor Pape and Ida Capraro; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lawrence M. and Julie Felitto, Gail and Joseph Scarafile, and Joseph J. and Donna Felitto; also many beloved nieces and nephews, especially acknowledging those who were like her own children and their families, Denise (Felitto) and Eric Jameson, Caroline (Felitto) and Scott Suttle, Lawrence M. and Abigail Felitto, and Anthony Felitto, all of Minneapolis, MN; and many beloved cousins and their families.

She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Theresa Montana; father-in-law, Joseph J. Felitto; and mother-in-law, Elizabeth (Castle) Felitto.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish.  This service will be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/c/StMaryofMount
