Jerry Petronella Obituary

Jerry "Pa" A. Petronella, 82, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2016, at home, with his loving family by his side. Jerry was born in Rome, NY on March 21, 1934, a son of the late Frank and Mary Lula Petronella. He was educated in Rome schools. Mr. Petronella proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. On June 14, 1958, Jerry was married to the former Angela Altieri. The couple has shared over 58 loving and devoted years together. Jerry worked at Chicago Pneumatic retiring after many years of service. A loving and committed husband, father, and grandfather, Jerry never missed any of his grandchildren's events, even if he had to travel to be there. Lovingly known to many as "Pa", Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Angela; two daughters and sons-in-law, GerriAnn and Shib Caouette with whom he resided, and Ann Marie and Mark Tolman; two sons, David and Mark Petronella; grandchildren, Josette and Rick Bilodeau, Shibe and Krystal Caouette, Shawn and Nicki Caouette, Dana and Jim Finch, Kyle and Brittney Tolman, and Lea and Alex Cox; great grandchildren, Quincy Finch, Gabriella Bilodeau, Blake Caouette, and Jace Tolman; a sister-in-law, Theresa Altieri; and three special nephews, Raymond, Andy, and Stephen Altieri. Jerry was predeceased by his son, Michael Petronella in 2013. His funeral with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. from The Matt Funeral Home and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish with interment in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Monday, 4 to 7 p.m. at The Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., Utica. The guidance, sincere compassion, and long-time care shown by Dr. Ira Tisch and Dr. Abin Pachikara, have been a great comfort to the Petronella family. The family wants to offer a sincere thank you to the staff of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare; Dialysis Center Satellite at the Masonic Care Community; and Hospice and Palliative Care, especially acknowledging Mary Ellen and Ann.
