Mrs. Jo Ann (Lia) Johnson, 62, passed away with loving family by her side, on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare of MVHS.
Jo was born in Utica, June 16, 1958, a daughter of Justine (DeFiore) Lia and the late Joseph Lia. She was educated in local schools and a graduate of JFK High School.
Jo furthered her education and eventually received masters’ degrees in applied science, advance medical billing, and coding. She was also a Licensed NYS Disability Attorney. She was employed as the IT Department Head at St. Luke’s Hospital for many years.
On July 12, 1986, Jo was joined in marriage to Raymond Johnson and they have shared over thirty-four loving years of marriage. Jo is survived by her beloved husband, Ray; her children, Christopher Johnson, and Kara Johnson and her partner, Phil Snyder; grandchildren, Giuliana and Lucas Snyder; her mother, June Lia; and 5 sisters, including a special sister, Jin Hutchins; and many other family members, including a special cousin, Patricia Servello and special friends, Laurie and Frank Tirado and family. She was predeceased by her dad, Joseph Lia; grandparents, Joseph and Jeanette Lia, and Peter and Clem DeFiore; Godparents, Mel and Gus Servello; and a special niece, Andrea Carcone.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Jo’s family will honor her in a private gathering and she will be laid to rest in Calvary Mausoleum. During this difficult time in our country, reaching out to the family with a message of sympathy on our website is of great comfort to them.
