On January 18, 2025, my wife, our love, our sis, our mama Jodie Sue Lerner, joined her mother Wendy, father Barry, and her grandparents in heaven. Born June 14, 1973, Jodie lived her life selflessly, leaving imprints on the hearts of all she touched. From her work with the Center for Animal Control to working as a Bank Teller at Woodforest Bank, she put her heart and soul in all that she did. Jodie loves being a mother to her son Steven, sister to Jeffrey and his wife, Carmen, and auntie to Ricco and Cristian but finding her true love Ricardo is her greatest joy. The family that they created together with the addition of her babies Ivan, Cynthia, Sierra, Nicki, her “munchkin” Maria, Josh, Robert, Jessica, and Justyna. As well as her beloved grandkids, Gabriella, Bentley, Selena, and Wayne, who all gave Jodie a life of happiness few people will ever know.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 10-11 a.m. at the Matt Funeral Home, 700 Rutger St., corner of Mohawk St., in Utica. Jodie’s prayer service will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Her burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica.
The family is grateful to the staff at Wynn Hospital and the special teams that cared for her with such compassion, patience and love. It gave the family great comfort knowing she was in such good hands. Rest in Peace Jodie knowing we will hold each other strong, carry you in our hearts, and continue the journey you created for us.
