Mr. John H. Ruggiero, Sr., 86, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare. John was born in Frankfort, NY, on August 13, 1929, a son of the late Phillip Sr. and Anna (Balio) Ruggiero. He served in the US Army as a CPL, during the Korean War. John was a Teamster Truck Driver, as well as a Trustee at local 182 for over thirty years and drove for St. Johnsbury, most of those years. He was also at one time a co-owner of B & R Trucking and Riverside Materials. John was a fun loving dad who did everything for his family. He loved working around the house, enjoyed his tending his garden, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. John was joined in marriage to Anastasia Surace on June 20, 1953 and they have shared over sixty loving years together. He is survived by his beloved wife, Stasia; son, Vincent Ruggiero; grandchildren, Rachel Ruggiero, Jessica Ruggiero, and Jonathon Ruggiero; great grandchildren, Adriana Smalden and Vincent Ruggiero III; one brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Linda Ruggiero; one sister, Rose Calogero; in-laws, Mella Mino, Gerry Campola, and Emily Surace; and also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved son, John Ruggiero Jr. and grandson Vincent Ruggiero who were both always in his heart; a brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Augie Ruggiero; and sister, Fay Fiorentino. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Private entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum. There are no calling hours but the family will greet visitors at the conclusion of mass.
