Joseph A. Gimelli

Mr. Joseph A. Gimelli, 72, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, following cardiac complications. Joseph was born in Utica on September 4, 1944, a son of the late Julius Gimelli and Sophie (Angelo) Gimelli. He was raised in Utica and attended Blessed Sacrament School, Notre Dame High School and Utica College, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Joe was a longtime employee of the City of Utica in the engineering department; and a volunteer and member of the Board of Directors of the Hope House. He is survived by his mother, Sophie; his three sons, Daniel, David and Stephen Gimelli, and their mother, Rosemary (Costanza) Hanley; his granddaughter, Jaymie Patterson; and many aunts and cousins. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. The family will greet visitors prior to mass at church from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
