Joseph C. Gozy, 81, passed away peacefully , surrounded by those he loved, on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Sitrin H.C.C. Joe was born in New Hartford on June 23, 1935, a son of the late Abraham and Helen (Joseph) Gozy and was educated at Our Lady of Lourdes School. He worked for the Laborers Union Local 35 for over forty-two years. On February 20, 1960, Joe was joined in marriage to the former Doris J. Moreau. They have shared over fifty-seven loving years together. Surviving are his beloved wife, Doris; his two sons, Joseph Gozy and his wife Karen, of Whitesboro and Vincent Gozy and his fiancé Mary Kay Van Dreason, of Westmorland; four grandchildren, Samantha, Katie, Austin and Joseph Gozy; one sister, Mary Rizzo; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Abe and John Gozy, and his three sisters, Doris Bartlett, and Myra and Sadie Gozy. In keeping with Joe's wishes, his family will honor him in a private ceremony and he will be laid to rest at Waterville Cemetery.
