Joseph Suppa Obituary

Mr. Joseph Suppa, 65, went to his eternal home, joining his beloved mother, father and sister Jeanmarie, on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 as a result of an automobile accident.

Joseph was born in Utica, December 16, 1955, a son of the late Francis R. and Saveria (Sadie Geraci) Suppa. Joe was educated in local Catholic schools at St. Mary of Mount Carmel and Notre Dame High School, from where he graduated. Joe was self-employed for many years as owner of Suppa's Pizzeria, making many people happy with his cooking. Later, he went to work as a cook with New York State Corrections, from where he retired. A loving son, brother and uncle, Joe was always there for his family, no questions asked. As a son, Joe was the best you could ask for, taking care of his father, especially, in his later years, as a nurse, cook and home aide. Dad always said, "He's a good kid". The only thing bigger than Joe's bark, was his heart. Joe took great pride in his garden and maintaining the home for his father. Known for his old school values, Joe also had a deep faith in the Lord and could be often seen walking the neighborhood or sitting in his backyard, while praying the rosary. Joe took extreme pride in teaching his niece, Saveria, about her faith and often told her, "Someday you will be a nun.", making her smile.

He is survived by his brothers, Michael (Dianna) Suppa, Francis (Joanne) Suppa, Mark (Dawn) Suppa; his aunts, Rosemary Chiffy, Theresa Suppa and Carmelita Scotellero; many cousins; nieces and nephews, Connie Suppa and Asim Huskic, Freddie Suppa, Sarah and Michael Piazza, Alysa Suppa and Zachary Santino, Julianna Suppa, Lucas Suppa and Christine Raspante, Francis and Ashley Suppa, Josh and Amy Suppa, and Joey and Saveria Suppa. He was predeceased by his parents, Fran and Sadie; sister, Jeanmarie; grandparents; and a niece, Christine Suppa.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his mass of Christian burial on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of Mount Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
