Joseph Torraco Obituary

Mr. Joseph D. Torraco, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2020, at the Abraham House of Rome.

Joseph was born in Utica, on May 28, 1937, a son of the late Philip and Marian (Perritano) Torraco. He was educated in local schools and a graduate of TR Proctor High School.  He was employed at the US Post Office, head of maintenance, at the Utica Main Branch. Along with his brother, Tony, he operated Torraco’s Trailer Park, in Floyd, for many years.

On July 20, 1991, Joe was joined in marriage to the former Cynthia L Kiefer and they enjoyed nineteen loving years until her untimely death on January 24, 2010.

In earlier years Joe enjoyed boating and especially loved horseracing and going to the casino.

He is survived by two daughters, Brandi Jo and her husband, Paul Reilly and Beth Anne M. Torraco, all of Floyd; two beloved grandchildren, Joseph Cosmo Reilly and Madison Louise Reilly; one brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Cosamina Torraco; and also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Cara Jean; and four brothers, Anthony, Bernard, Cosmo and Paul Torraco.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors on Tuesday, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. The church will be operating at a limited capacity, we ask that you come a little earlier, as temperature checks, social distancing, proper wearing of face masks and registration for tracing will be implemented by the church staff.

The family would like to offer a heartfelt thanks to the staff of St. Luke’s Hospital and the Abraham House for the loving care shown to Joe during his illness. Please consider donations to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org
