Josephine M. (Ferrucci) Kabot

The family of Josephine M. Kabot is saddened to announce her passing, from natural causes, on Monday, March 7, 2022, at the age of 90.

Born Josephine Ferrucci, on March 27, 1931, in Little Falls, NY, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabetta (Alegia) Ferrucci. Josephine survived her devoted husband, the late Gregory Kabot and four beloved siblings, sister, Ida Baretta, and three brothers, Rocky, James and Anthony Ferrucci. She leaves a daughter, Elizabeth Kooyman of Oneonta and son, James Castronova of Upper Darby, PA, along with 3 grandchildren, Magen Brenner, Christopher Castronova, and SGT Jason Castronova, all of the Philadelphia area, as well as, two recent great-granddaughters, Riley Castronova and Vivian Brenner.

Upon her mother’s passing in 1943, Josephine relocated to West Winfield from Little Falls and was a 1949 graduate of West Winfield High School. It was there she met her future husband, the late James “Jimmy” Castronova, whom she married in 1951. She resided in Washington, DC throughout the 1950’s until returning to the Utica area in 1958, upon the completion of her husband’s naval service.  

She was employed from 1963 to 1975 by Sperry Rand Corp/UNIVAC, as a quality control inspector, and retired in 1986, after 10 years at Laser Precision, in Utica.  

Josephine was re-married in 1970 to Gregory Kabot, of Utica, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2020. He passed away in August, at 87, after a long 10 year battle with Myeloma.  

Though being private in her personal life, she will be remembered by her family as a very loving and generous mom and grandmother, who was always there for her family, and will remain forever in their memories and hearts.

The family wishes to thank the staff at The Grand Rehab and Nursing Care, in Ilion, for the quality of care afforded her these past 4 years as a resident.

Given present health and safety concerns, the family will honor her privately with entombment at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
