Mrs. Josephine (Oliva) Pantaleo, 100, passed away, with her loved ones by her side, Monday, November 8, 2021, at the St. Luke’s Home.
Josephine was born in Utica, June 18, 1921, a daughter of the late Frank and Colette (Indino) Oliva. She was educated in local schools and a graduate of TR Proctor High School.
Josephine shared many loving years of marriage with her husband, Vito Pantaleo, who predeceased her in 1959.
For many years, Josephine was a saleslady, in the record department, of the Boston Store and later employed as a seamstress at Duxback.
In earlier years, she was an avid bingo player and devoted member of the Saints Cosmas and Damian Chapel.
A very loving mother and grandmother, Josephine is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Roseleen Pantaleo-Cormier, and Colette and Daniel Bigelow; grandchildren, Jason and Melissa Bigelow, and Jessica Bigelow; and great grandson, Jacob Bigelow. Aunt Jo also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews, including, Frances Staplekemper, Lorraine and John Bulson, Christopher Casaletta, Roger and Paula Fontana, and Fred Hoppe; many great nieces and great nephews; and her beloved dog, “Molly”. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Oliva, Rose and John Gentile, Antoinette and Mel Bowen, and Anna and Thomas Fontana; and nieces, Mary Frances Fontana and Rosemary Hoppe.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Calvary Cemetery,
