Joyce Linda Scotto, 71, a lifelong Utica resident and currently a resident of Syracuse since 2011, passed away after a long illness at the Central Park Nursing Home on Friday July 29, 2016. Joyce was born in Utica on January 25, 1945, the daughter of Joseph and Mildred "Millie" (Cosco) Scotto. She attended Utica schools and was a 1963 graduate of TR Proctor High School. She then attended Syracuse University where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. Joyce then enrolled in the LeMoyne College Master's Program where she achieved Master's Degrees in English and Journalism. Joyce began her work career at the Utica Observer Dispatch as a copy editor and had worked there for many years until taking a position with The New York State Department of Labor. She retired after twenty two years in 2011. While in Syracuse Joyce enjoyed spending time reading and watching her programs. She also loved being with her many cousins and their extended families and was always affectionately referred to as Aunt Joyce. She is survived by many cousins and second cousins and was raised with her many aunts and uncles in the Cosco, Mancuso, Reginelli, Scotto and Russell families. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Millie and her brother Paul Scotto. Joyce's family will honor her privately and she will be laid to rest with her brother and parents and Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are with The Matt Funeral Home of Utica, NY.
