Kathryn Kenney Obituary

Kathryn Bridget Kenney, 69, passed away with her family by her side, January 16, 2025, at the Abraham House in Rome, NY, after battling multiple myeloma.

Bridget was born in Glens Falls, August 18, 1955, a daughter of the late Vincent and Mary (Weinman) Kenney. She was raised and educated locally in the Glens Falls and Hudson, NY area and was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Glens Falls. She later attended the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in Manhattan and graduated with a degree in photography.

While attending school in the city, Bridget fell in love with the city and stayed to live and work for the next forty years of her life. She had the pleasure of working for BBDO, Grumbacher Paints, Quad Graphics, and Stock Market Photos throughout the years, but, often talked about how proud she was of her volunteer work at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. She was one of the few people who had access to photograph the cathedral from the roof. In 1979, she even had the honor of photographing Pope John Paul the 2nd when he visited the city.

A very fashionable person, Bridget was always known for being immaculately dressed. She also worked at Macy’s, Tiffany and Co., as well as Scully and Scully’s and was an avid shopper. In her later years, she moved to New Hartford to be closer to family, especially her adored great nephew and great niece. She would often reminisce about missing her local food spots in NYC, as she was a big foodie and always enjoyed a good meal.

Bridget was predeceased by her longtime companion, Charles E. Smith; and is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and John Clark, and Mary Binder Gibbs and John Gibbs; nieces and nephews, Mary and Blane Murray, Andrea and Joe Ho, Eric Binder, and Ken Binder; her great niece and great nephew, both of whom she absolutely adored, Ryan and MacKenzie Murray; many cousins, and her steadfast feline companion, Maddie.

There will be a memorial service for Bridget in the spring, in Hudson NY. She will be laid to rest after the memorial service at Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson, NY.

Bridget’s family will be forever grateful to Hospice of Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison Counties, as well as, the Abraham House in Rome NY.  Please consider donations to these charitable organizations in lieu of flowers at www.theabrahamhouse.org/ways-to-support/donate/ or www.hospicecareinc.org/donate-online/
